New Members within the HyCologne Network: CHEMPARK and IHK Köln
Hürth, February 28th 2010
In May, the first hydrogen filling station in the Cologne region will start operation. In a 1st phase it will supply fuel to regular public bus lines. The new technology is supported and promoted by a network formed by industrial and political partners, who have united to create a so-called “cluster” under the name of HyCologne. By now, it has 20 members. The last newcomers are CHEMPARK and the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Köln).
“The exchange of experiences of the hydrogen experts will be helpful for us to support organizations at our locations in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen. I am confident that we will have a more focused preparation and support of new projects in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells,“ says Dr. Ernst Grigat, head of CHEMPARK Leverkusen. “The new filling station will further reinforce our strengths: Clients will find a complete infrastructure as well as tailor-made services at the location. For all our activities, the parole is: Client companies shall feel at home when they visit us.”
In close cooperation with the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce, there will be an enhanced information offer for the regional industry to spur their commitment to the subject of hydrogen and fuel cells. On May 6th, in preparation for the World Hydrogen Energy Conference in Essen (www.WHEC2010.com), there will already be a presentation in Cologne to show the economic potential of the technology .
HyCologne president Dr. Albrecht Möllmann confirms the “important function” of the HyCologne network for the Rhineland region: “Hydrogen will play an important role, especially in the current discussion of electric traffic & transport concepts. Therefore, it is necessary, to advance hydrogen applications together with our strong partners in the Rhineland region.”
